After 10 years, the National Music Policy has finally been handed over to the Sports Culture and the Arts Cabinet Secretary Hassan Wario who should now proceed to incorporate it into the Music Bill.
The official document was presented to CS Wario this morning at an event that was attended by key players in the Kenyan music industry.
What Silvastone Thinks Of The Kenyan Music IndustryThe purpose of the music policy is to guide and regulate all the players in the music industry, protect the music industry rights holders against any form of illegal exploitation, and to enhance the development of the Kenyan music industry.
One of it’s objective is to facilitate the creation of a legislative framework that promotes the growth and a development of local music, which has been a major problem. After this is incorporated it into a bill, we expect all artists in Kenya to put in work and produce better music.
